Is PC gaming on the decline and why?
I would say that PC gaming is not necessarily in decline.
I would say that smartphone gaming has exploded to take a bigger percentage of the market.
PC
hardware has and i think always will be more expensive than console
hardware, just because of sheer power. A high end gaming capable PC is
far superior in terms of performance to a high end console.
However
with a console its just plug and play, you know that every game for
Console X will work on Console X, its easy, not all PC games will run on
all PCs, eg a AAA game will not run, or will run very poorly on basic
hardware.
People
can be interested in gaming but not have any knowledge or interest in PC
hardware to buy the suitable equipment to play high end games.
I
have found that although console hardware is cheaper, the games tend to
be a bit more expensive, on the whole i find PC games tend to be
cheaper, particularly with vendors such as Steam.
- I don’t see gaming as whole declining anytime soon.
- I do see mobile (smartphone) gaming share of the market increasing
- The console and PC number may reduce slightly but i think there will always be a desire for along time to come.
